Let’s bring back honor to our world!
Over the past four months I have added a daily 3-4 mile hike into my day. It has been one of the best decisions I have made and look forward to it everyday moving forward. I do it no matter what the weather is; can’t wait for the snow. ❄️☃️ While doing so, I have hiked over 500 miles and listened to over 100 hours of audio books; mostly on American History. Technology aside, I have found that the biggest difference that I see from the past to the present is the unfortunate absence of honor.
The Webster dictionary defines honor as, “Adherence to what is right or to a conventional standard of conduct.” Now, I am not getting political or voicing my opinion in any way. That would be disastrous. 😂 What I will say is that back in the day, (18th and 19th century’s) honor was in every thread of existence and would be upheld at all costs, even if life depended on it.
Unfortunately, honor seems to be missing from today’s world and it is especially evident in the world of social media. When something is said, posted or shared; we really don't know the actual intentions of the content. Is it are honorable for the betterment of the good, or is it self-serving? I have seen a bit more of the latter as of late. Of course, this is not true for all and there are truly honorable people out there; I hope I am considered one of them. However, I do believe that if we did bring back a bit more honor, and allowed honor to drive our actions, things would be a bit better. What do you think?
If you want to see true honor, just read and learn about the ways of the past. Some of the greatest stories are not from a galaxy far far away, but right in our own history books.
Sooooo, I challenge everyone to ask yourself, what does “honor” mean to you and what could you do to make sure you are “honorable” in your intentions and actions.
I wish you all a most wonderful Thanksgiving and enjoy the time with your family….I make this wish from the bottom of my heart. (My honorable wish for you).
