Have you heard of the five “P’s?”
It is amazing how well a week will go when planned accordingly and how challenging it is when you don’t. The five “P’s” are PRIOR PLANNING PREVENTS POOR PERFORMANCE. Last week Kathy and I took a red eye flight back from California to NY and landed at 7 am on Monday morning. By the time we got home, I snuck in a quick hike and started my week. Unfortunately, I did not have the opportunity to plan out my week. I had appointments scheduled, but no plan and felt as if I was behind all week. Anyone ever feel like that?
This week, I did my planning session early Monday and have a whole different outlook on the week. I already accomplished key tasks and made progress on strategic projects that needed to be done. Most importantly, l have confidence leading into the rest of the week. All because I took the time to plan…and a good night sleep on Sunday helped as well.
Soooo, how do you plan your time? Do you let your week run you or do you run your week. Are you proactive or reactive with your time. It’s interesting how some people say they don’t have the time to plan, and are always running behind. Perhaps if they took the half hour to set up the week, they would a little bit more ahead.
This works great daily as well, so remember, “Prior Planning Prevents Poor Performance!”
