Don’t worry, you don’t need to answer. I know you have made mistakes in your life just as I have, and every person on the planet. I also know not all mistakes are created equal and some mistakes are far worse than others. For example, I (Chris) was once on vacation and my wife and we were in a shop at the resort. I was half looking her way and looking at a souvenir and placed my hand on her butt. We’ve been married for almost 30 years so its something we do. Well, in this situation, it wasn’t my wife’s butt, but another blond women who was wearing a similar outfit. Now, I was much more startled than she was and after I apologized profusely, she saw my wife, we laughed and moved on, albeit I was definitely humiliated and embarrassed. I would deem this as a little mistake, no harm was done, except me needing to explain myself to Kathy, but could have been a big mistake if it was a different scenario. It was an honest, and very funny mistake. I learned to double check to make sure it is may wife before I show any kind of affection.

Mistakes happen all the time in society. If we don’t make mistakes, we are not human and probably not living any kind of exciting life. I think the challenge lies in how people keep reliving the mistake and not able to let it go, on both ends. I could have continued to beat myself up and question how could I have done that, and Kathy could have harped on my mistake if she was insecure in our relationship, thankfully, my wife laughed it off and moved on.

This is a fun example of a mistake, but the reality is that many people make mistakes and relive it over and over. That means the mistake is absorbing out thoughts and ultimately stealing our life away. Our thoughts are who we are, and for us to free our minds, we have to forgive ourselves and others of mistakes we or they make, so we could live a more peaceful life. This is a practice I do everyday as I start my day and do my best to not let yesterdays shortcomings effect the new day.

Happy living!
