It’ll all work out.
I was having a great conversation with my beautiful cousin Tara and we were reflecting on my Uncle’s Nicky’s life long attitude of, “It’ll all work out”. He was an amazing man who always had a sincerity and calmness that I admired immensely. I am happy to say the apple doesn’t fall too far from the tree.
I have adapted the, “It’ll all work out”, mindset as well. It’s an ongoing joke with all of my closest friends and colleagues. Master Paul Edwards always says when we have a challenge at the Taekwondo school, “It’s UMAC Briarcliff, it all works out”. Grandmaster Paul Melella has said to me many times, “I don’t know how it happens but it always works out for you”.
Why do I believe this? Perhaps it’s perspective. I believe that no matter what hardships are thrown at us; we have our family, friends, fresh air to breath, beautiful trees, sunset, and so much beauty around us. These are things that no-one could ever take away from us, so there is really not that much we could lose. Material things we have are nothing compared to what we hold in our mind and heart.
As Grandmaster Kim often says, “We can’t take anything with us when we leave”, but we can take our memories and experiences. That is why I believe, and I believe my Uncle Nicky believed, that things will, “All work out”.
Please don’t take this message from a place of complacency. I believe that hard work, drive and determination along with the, “It’ll all work out”, attitude is the perfect formula for success in life and peace of mind.
Rest In Peace Uncle Nicky, I love you very much and your legacy will live on forever.
