Are you able to stay centered?
Well, last week was pretty interesting, wouldn’t you say? I am sure some of you reading this were very excited with the results of the election and some of you were very disappointed. Last week I mentioned how it is more important how you react to the results than the results itself.
This week I want to share a valuable lesson Grandmaster Kim has taught us many years ago. He explained self-mastery is when you are able to stay centered regardless of the circumstances you face, which is the first step to enlightenment. An individual who has true self-mastery doesn’t get too upset or angry and they don’t get overly excited. They are able to keep their emotions in check regardless of what is happening. They do not drift to emotional extremes. Why, that is causes irrational responses and that is when mistakes are made.
This is especially hard in parenting. We, as parents always want the best for our children and when they don’t listen, it is hard to keep calm. Could you relate? As parents, have to have serious self-control to stay centered when your child is outright disobedient. The same applies with the election results. Are the results of the 2020 election moving you off your center in either a positive or negative way? If so, I would strongly recommend that you take a step back, regain your center and approach whatever is in front of you in a calm, centered manner. Separate your emotions from the circumstance and carry on.
