Give yourself time to process.
When you see or hear something, do you give it time to process in your mind, or do you react immediately?
I think this is a very important question that deserves consideration to think about. When I think about this question, I reflect on one who is an experienced warrior. They will always be ready, but before any engagement, they will assess the situation and apply necessary force when needed. If there is no need, they won’t attack. 99% of the time, an altercation is eliminated before any physical action because the warrior is always one step ahead.
What does this mean? If someone says something to you or does something, perhaps it would be a good idea to process the “wha”t and the “why” something is happening before a response. The wait time you take, the silence you give, could be exactly what is needed for you to see things from a different perspective. A warrior will observe and be aware, because the last thing they want to do is strike. I personally believe that is how we all should communicate, listen more and make sure you’ve given yourself time before a response. Truth is a hasty response typically is an emotional response, and that never ends positively.
One may argue that if the warrior takes time to process, then he will be vulnerable. I believe the opposite is true. The warrior is always processing and assessing giving the ability for immediate action if needed…which most of the time is not.
The essence of the warrior is to see things before they happen through mindfulness and awareness and never, ever respond in haste or with emotion.
How does this relate to your world?
