There’s a big difference between “hard work” and “working hard.”
Did you know there’s a difference between hard work and working hard? I came to this realization when I was talking to a group preparing for their final training to earn their black belt. I explained to them that the training should not be hard work. but you should work really hard at it. Why? Because hard work is doing something that you really don’t want to do, but do it anyway. (Of course, to the best of your ability.) Working hard is doing what you love to do and putting forth your best effort. You should work very hard at training for a black belt, but it shouldn’t be hard work because black belt training is driven by passion.
This also relates to anything else you do whether it be business, hobbies, relationships, etc. Work hard for the people that you love and care about, for the interests that inspire you, especially if you have the ability to impact others. For example, I love to train in Taekwondo, hike, mountain bike, snow board, and whatever gets me outside. I challenge and push myself, working very hard each time, and have a big smile while I do it. (Most of the time😂)
Now, this doesn’t mean we ignore the hard work, because we all know at times we have to do things we don’t want to. Another strategy is to make your “Hard work” a bit more fun and then you get to “work hard” at it. We’ll save that for another conversation.
On a different note, I am greatly saddened by the events in Afghanistan. My heart goes out to all involved. Please continue to send prayers/positive energy to the region and hope for the safety and well-being of the innocent parties. Ugh…more people than ever need positivity in their world.
