Ok So If You Email Me I

Ok, so if you email me, I may not respond right away but I’ll get to it eventually. If you text me, even if I read it when it comes in, I probably won’t respond immediately. If you call me, it will most likely go to voicemail and I’ll check it later.

Is it because I don’t like you? Not at all. Is it because I don’t think you’re important? Nope. Do I think that my time is more valuable? Well, kind of because to me, it is. If I don’t protect my time, who else will.

Fact is, if I responded to every text sent, call made and email in my inbox; I would get absolutely nothing done in a day. That is why I will disconnect when I have something to do. I work hard to give 100% attention to the task at hand. This way I am much more productive in my allocated time and project and not wasting it by checking updates.

I did find myself distracted a little while ago so I disabled all of my notifications. I don’t get social media notifications, email, text or anything and I check the phone when I want to check it. By my terms and my rules, not anyone else. When I was responding quickly, I was extremely distracted and not getting things done in a timely manner.

Soooo, please, please do not take it personally if I don’t respond right away. Yes, I am ignoring you but not for the reasons you think. Only do I could keep the main thing the main thing and get the most out of my day.

One thing I recently did gave me a ton more ability to focus. I turned off all of my notifications on my phone except for my phone and text. All social media and everything else is turned off and I am able to control when I want to check my notifications and not have my phone blow up all the time.

I hope this helps those friends and colleagues regain their freedom for those who can’t put their phone down.
