When I was training for my 6th Degree Black Belt in 2008, my life log training partner Joe Badini would come to my house every morning at 6:00 and we would train for an hour. We were to execute seven martial arts forms for the testing. We would practice each of the required patterns five times every morning. It was an enlightening experience to say the least. As I was training and improving, I gained a deeper understanding of the techniques and what I needed to practice. It was as if I was lifted to a higher level of awareness that I had never been to.
I realized I have so much more to learn. That is where my Grandmaster shared with me one of the most powerful statements, “You know how much you know when you realize how much you don’t know.” As I trained harder I realized how little I actually knew and was on a quest to gain a better understanding. This relates to business as well as anything else. Humility and always being a student ensures a life of continued growth in any area of life you are interested in. Here is your takeaway from this article: When someone is telling you how great they are, take it with a grain of salt. When someone is explaining that they are a student themselves, that is the word of a Master.
