Don’t take life too serious…it is too short to do so.

An interesting thing happened, the other day I was waiting in line at a coffee shop, and the barista made a small mistake on someone’s drink. No big deal, right? Easily fixable? But the guy in front must’ve been having a really bad day. He got so tense and frustrated that the whole energy in the place shifted. You could see the barista shrink a little, and everyone else quietly looked away. They fixed the drink and he walked away complaining with no further incident.

I remember standing there thinking, what’s wrong with this guy, Is this really worth getting upset over?

Life is already hard enough. The real challenges, the ones that truly test us , take plenty out of us on their own. There are much bigger fish to fry than a small mistake like that. When we add anger and stress to the small stuff like a wrong coffee order, how do we handle when something is big. One of my favorite quotes to use is, “Sometimes we gotta be like Elsa, and just let it go.” I get a lot of mileage on that one.

It seems like so many people walk around so serious, so tightly wound, that they forget to actually enjoy ice and live. They forget to smile. They forget to be present. They forget that not everything needs to be perfect, and not everything needs a reaction.

Lightening up doesn’t mean you’re careless or uncommitted. It doesn’t mean you stop working hard or lose your discipline. It simply means you protect your peace. You choose not to hand your sanity over to every inconvenience. You let the little things stay little.

When you loosen your grip on life just a bit, everything shifts. You think clearer. You handle challenges better. You enjoy the process instead of wrestling with it. And you make room for joy, even in the middle of the struggle.

Life may not get easier, but you can put some humor in it and learn to carry it with a lighter heart. And that makes all the difference.

A little wisdom for your…happy living
